La Gioia is our 100% Sangiovese-based Supertuscan. It’s a blend of the best grapes from various vineyard patches with different soil types. A big and powerful wine.
La Gioia is aged 30 months, in new, second and third year tonneaux. It has an internal flavour, with scale and depth, it is the ultimate expression of open hearted full fleshy plum richness of Sangiovese.
APPELLATION: IGT Rosso Toscana.
BLEND: 100% Sangiovese.
TERROIR: Soils of limestone and clay.
ALTITUDE: 450 – 500 m.s.l.
VINEYARD: Gaiole in Chianti (Siena). Certificated Organic by ICEA and introducing biodynamic practices.
VINEYARD AGE: 40 years.
YIELD: 20 quintals/ha.
HARVEST: October 2015. Picked by hand with 2 selections: in the vineyard and vibrating sorting table.
WINEMAKING: Selection of best Sangioveses. The grapes are picked, selected by hand and then lighlty crushed. The fermentations is carried in concrete Nomblot tanks and the must is macerated for 10-15 days over the skins.
AGEING: 30 month in new, second and third year tonneaux. At least 6 months bottle aging.
BOTTLING: June 2018.
PRODUCTION: 7.000 bottles of 0,75 Lt, 150 of 1,50 Lt and 30 of 3,00 Lt.
